College/Vocational Counseling Intern Description

Job Title: College Counseling Support Intern

Employment Status: Full-Time (Minimum three months)

Reports To: College/Vocational Counselor

Position Overview

We are seeking a bilingual intern to support the College and Vocational Counseling Department. This position provides critical administrative, logistical, and communication support for post-secondary planning services and student engagement. The intern will assist with maintaining resources, preparing communications, and helping organize college-related events and visits, while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the counseling office.

This is a supportive role ideal for someone interested in education, counseling, or student services who wants hands-on experience working with high school students and post-secondary planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the College/Vocational Counselor with administrative and organizational tasks
  • Assist in preparing and updating weekly student memos, announcements, resources, and Google Classroom announcements or materials
  • Help coordinate logistics for college fairs, U.S. Embassy visits, university rep visits, and other college-related events
  • Maintain orderly digital files and systems related to college and career planning
  • Help prepare and organize materials for classroom visits and presentations
  • Communicate time-sensitive updates to students during SEL periods when needed
  • Translate documents and announcements as needed (Spanish-English)
  • Assist in managing the college counseling calendar and event reminders

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate closely with the College/Vocational Counselor to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff in both English and Spanish
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in working with student information
  • Take initiative to support students and office needs during peak application season
  • Contribute to a welcoming and informed environment for students exploring post-secondary paths

We’re Looking for Someone Who Can:

  • Communicate clearly and professionally in both English and Spanish
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Show reliability, discretion, and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Use Google Workspace tools effectively (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, Classroom)
  • Work independently while collaborating as part of a team
  • Adapt quickly to changes in schedules and student needs
