Matching students with potential career opportunities to help them discover their vocation and gain invaluable work experience, soft skills, and leadership.
In 2023 Macris School launched its first, comprehensive internship program called ConnectMe. As part of our learning improvement plans, we want to give students more authentic experiences to help them connect conceptual learning with hands-on competency learning, and to develop their character in real-world experiences.
The program is targeted toward tenth graders to complete a minimum of a two-week internship in a career of their choice. Macris is building relationships within the local community to offer these programs to our students. Upon completion, there is a reflection and evaluation process for both the company and the student. Our students will not only gain some authentic work experience, but they will hone their soft skills, and begin exploring a potential vocational pathway. This is a stepping stone as they enter their junior year in which they begin to explore university options.
